Putting down the first tree in V.PARK COMPANS

Compans, November 30, 2021: The symbolic tree laying ceremony on the V PARK COMPANS, took place with the Mayor of Compans, Joel MARION, the developer represented by Mrs. Marine ULIVIERI, Director of Real Estate for Aéroports de Paris, the future user Mr. Eric PAUMIER as President of HOPPS Group (Colis Privé), and Grégory BLOUIN, President of VIRTUO in his capacity as investor developer.

To celebrate the launch of the V. PARK COMPANS construction site and more broadly to demonstrate its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, VIRTUO has put down the first tree on the future new generation logistics hub for COLIS PRIVE, a subsidiary of the HOPPS Group.

Sustainable development has been at the heart of VIRTUO’s strategy all along. Photovoltaic panels on the rooftops, BREEAM certifications and low-energy equipment are among the many actions taken over the years. Faced with the pressing issue of climate change, VIRTUO is more committed than ever and this project in Compans, Seine-et-Marne, is a clear demonstration of its commitment.

This new distribution center, built on behalf of COLIS PRIVE, which specializes in home deliveries of B2C parcels, will cover a surface area of 15,000 m² on a plot of land of approximately 5 hectares, owned by Aéroports de Paris. To mark the launch of the work, which began in September 2021, VIRTUO symbolically planted the first tree on the site on November 30. “This is a fundamental step towards reducing Virtuo’s carbon footprint in Compans, saving approximately 3,000 TeqCO2 emissions between the start of the project and its completion, in addition to the reforestation activities across the country,” explains Grégory Blouin, President of VIRTUO.

Aside from its determination to be certified BREEAM Excellent and receive the BiodiverCity label, VIRTUO is now reflecting on a number of recommendations, including the use of concrete with a lower carbon impact, skylights with EDS (Environmental and Health Declaration Sheet), bio-based paints and insulation, the use of virtuous finishing materials and the reduction of refrigerant mass on the project, “Our ambition is simple: to take this project towards a Zero Net Emission approach as far as building materials are concerned. To succeed, we have carried out eco-design work and lifecycle analysis studies to understand how to lower our carbon footprint. Simultaneously, we are in the process of identifying projects to create or restore carbon sinks, recognized by the French Low Carbon Label,” adds Grégory Blouin. Completion of the Compans project is expected in Q2 of 2022.

Eric Paumier, President of the HOPPS Group (Colis Privé) says “For many years we have been committed to reducing our carbon footprint through a number of initiatives that support our growth. We are very proud to team up with VIRTUO to build a state-of-the-art hub for sustainable development. We strongly believe that we have to take the necessary action—at every level of our operational plan—to be carbon neutral, and the Compans site built by VIRTUO is a perfect example of this ambition ».
