Real estate combines ecological and economic performance
A Charter of Reciprocal Commitments signed between the French government and 41 members of Afilog.
This afternoon, the logistics real estate players signed a charter of reciprocal commitments with government representatives Barbara Pompili, Agnès Pannier-Runacher and Emmanuel Wargon, in favor of the economic and environmental performance of logistics real estate.
The industry is well positioned to balance environmental and economic challenges. The commitments in favor of the environment address three main issues: land sobriety, biodiversity and carbon neutrality. In order to improve the competitiveness of the sector, and the economy as a whole, it is necessary to clarify and unify regulations affecting warehouses, while maintaining the same legal framework and speed up application processing, which will be facilitated by the government.
Among the commitments of the 41 Afilog members who founded the charter:
- Brownfields vs. undeveloped lands favored as locations for warehouse projects;
- Analysis and implementation of devices to accommodate biodiversity on buildings: refuges for wildlife, hedgerows…
- Coverage of an average of 50% of useful roof surfaces with photovoltaic panels.
Industry players are committed to protecting the environment while boosting the country’s economy. We believe we can achieve these two goals at the same time!
